Question

I have been a fan of yours since King Crimson.  The concert in 77 was by far the best rock and roll show I've ever seen.  The energy ELP displayed was amazing.  Lucky Man, From The Beginning, Ces't le Vie, ... I cannot pick a favorite.  I also thought Black Moon was a great effort and highly underrated.  I would like to know if there are any plans to sell some of the music to Harmonix: ROCK BAND series of games?

Answer

To be honest I never really get to involved in the sales side of the music but thank you very much for your support and interest, I will mention the Harmonix idea to the management. Best, Greg.

Question

Hi Greg, A few years ago you visited Woolmer Hill School in Surrey UK to talk about the Humanity's First Starship which would send recordings of music into space including your piece 'Encounters'. I wondered if the project was launched successfully and if it was, whether you ever get to hear about its progress? It was a great privilege to meet you when you visited the school! Best Wishes. Gill

Answer

Dear Gill, I do remember coming to the school and I do remember composing the music for Team Encounter space company. I do believe the launch took place because they actually did them quite frequently. They mainly put things up into space like broadcast satellites, etc. but they had this underlying belief that space would one day become the saviour of humanity and who knows, they may even be proved to be right.

Many thanks for your interest and continued support, I hope to see you on my forthcoming tour of the UK in November, do stop by and say hello.

Best,

Greg.

Question

We were going through the music collection tonight and were surprised to find a Jerry Jeff Walker cover of a King Crimson song. What other covers of your songs do you find interesting, amusing or just plain odd?

Answer

It is always an honour when someone covers one of my songs. It is of course quite a strange experience hearing someone else sing the words that you created in your own mind, but in the end it is a wonderful form of communication and a truly shared experience.

Best,

Greg

Question

* Dear Greg *

I really love your music.

Your voice, sound of guitar and  bass healing me and gives me an energy of living.

Your music is so delicate and  I feel your professionalism and strong will to music.

I have some questions for you.

Haven't  you ever controled your emotion before?

When you encounter such situations? How do you do?

I sometimes  losing my mind and it's annoying me.

I'm appreciated to taking time to read my letter.

I love your music forever.

kaori

Answer

Dear Kaori,

Thank you very much for you kind thoughts and very sensitive questions.

I don't believe that anyone can actually "control" their emotions, the whole thing about emotions is that they basically overwhelm you. This is true of love and passion as it is equally true of grief and loneliness. These are feelings over which we really have no control.

On the other hand, as an artist one always tries to describe these feelings in the songs and music etc that one creates so I suppose that in this sense these feelings are in a way controlled.

I do hope that this answers your questions.

Best,

Greg.

Question

Hi Greg, in view of Carl's rather harsh statement regarding the end of ELP, does this spur you on any to recreate that fantastic show you put on a few years back, I was lucky enough to see the show at Southend and was blown away!! It would be so good to see another tour.

Thankyou so much for all the years of great music.

Best regards

Mick

Answer

Dear Mick,

Firstly, thank you very much for your support and enthusiasm.

Regarding Carl's recent statement I can only say that he has apparently made up his mind that he no longer wishes to perform with ELP and of course I accept his decision, albeit with some degree of regret and sadness. Personally I felt that in return for their years of loyal support that the fans of ELP deserved one last world tour and again speaking personally, I would have certainly been prepared to make it happen.

Best Wishes,

Greg.
