Question

I still start weeping at the beauty of the Sellersville show last month and meeting you on the tour bus afterwards - I even blogged about it and had about 100,000 visitors that day...

Anyway, there's a lot more I could say but since this is Ask Greg, I am wondering if you have any plans to ever add Hang on to a Dream to your set.  Yep, I know it's a Nice song, but hearing you sing it gives me such chills - you sing/play it the way it was meant to be...

I am kind of obsessed with listening to that right now as well as your entire catalogue.  Forty years later, the music is fresher and more beautiful than ever.  And let me add that you are in very good hands with my great friend, Andre.  He's a rare person, just like you.

Best,

Robin

Answer

Dear Robin,

Thank you very much for very your kind words. I think one day it would be great to include Hang on to a Dream. I have some terrific ideas about how to stage it with a ballet and have actually been discussing how to achieve this just recently. We will see.

Many thanks for your continuing support,

Greg.

Question

I know Greg is busy. But I wish that this could be taken a little more serious. People being able to communicate with Greg Lake. For some people it would be their biggest thrill in life.

Someone should spend time with him maybe an hour or two a week while he is driving to a show or flying someplace. Fans went through hell waiting in lines for hours if not days to get a decent ticket for an ELP show. How many people spent their last $5 on an ELP album. Those purchases have given Greg a wonderful life. He in turn, has given us his wonderful talent. We just want to be able to experience a bit of closeness to a genuine rock star!!!

I know I asked a question months ago. And WHY aren't they playing in South Florida in Sunrise, Fl?

Answer

Dear Floridian,

For the life of me I don't know why dates in Florida are not more frequent. I did play there some years ago with Ringo and I know that Keith and I just missed playing there on our last tour. I think that the dates were on hold but for some reason there was a routing changed and so the dates got dropped. Please speak to your local promoter or radio station and let them know that you would like to see us perform where you live and I do hope we get to meet up soon.

Very best wishes,

Greg.

Question

Hi Greg

I have been gettng rather nostaligic of late - Probably something to do with age creeping up !!  Remember the Cellar Club, Fleetsbridge Drill Hall and the like!!  Dale Valley? Even the Power Station Club!  All seems and is such a long time ago and I suspect that to you it is a lifetime away.  I was Jill Penney,  I read that the person you would like to have an indepth conversation with would be your mother.   She was such a lovely person and I wondered if there was anything in particular you would say to her? I am lucky enough to still have my mother albeit in a nursing home.  I always knew that you would go far whereas I am still here in our home town.  i married a musician that had the same music teacher as yourself and am now partner to another!  There are so many questions I want to ask!!

Yours  Jill

Answer

Dear Jill,

How very nice to hear from you, I do remember your name. You can always contact me through Eileen.

Best,

Greg.

Question

Greg, I think you are the most talented artist in the world. Your voice is incredible. In the 70's I fell in love with your music. I know that this is not a question it is just to encourage you. My father was a steel guitar player in Nashville. He played with the following artist, Patsy Cline, Roy Clark, George Jones, etc...and I know that the road was hard. P.S. Forgive me for sending you an email "Still you turn me on". Thanks for all of your hard work. Cynthia

Answer

Dear Cynthia,

Many thanks. Very interesting to hear about your Dad, I love steel guitar and am very fond of country music.

Best,

Greg.

Question

Hi Greg,

I was sorry to read of Keith's illness and hope he is recovering well.

I have been an ELP fan since the early seventies. Unfortunately the closest I have been to enjoying  the experience of  ELP 'live' was seeing 'Pictures at an Exhibition' in the cinema. Will you consider including Australia in your world tour?

Thank you for the music... it has been a source of great pleasure and enjoyment over the years.

Regards

Annette

Answer

Dear Annette,

Many thanks. Thank goodness Keith is beginning to recover now and I'm sure we will be back on the road again very soon. I honestly don't know why ELP never performed in Australia? I suppose in the early 1970's it was just so far to travel with such a large show. Nowadays of course it is possible to come and play in Australia with everything you need being supplied. Strangely enough I do have a number of Australian friends and so I am aware of what a wonderful country it is. I do hope that our touring plans include Australia in the future. Please do make sure that you let your local radio station or promoter know that you would like to see us perform there as this will help them to become aware of the demand.

Very best wishes,

Greg
