Greg Lake 2005 Tour Info

"For me, music is a spiritual experience. If there is one thing that I have learned during my career, it is that in order to make great music, it is not enough to simply be a great musician, you must also be a good human with an honest soul". ~ Greg Lake.

The Greg Lake Band

David Arch (Keyboards/Musical Director)

Spearheading the band as musical director is keyboardist David Arch, a long time professional touring and recording veteran, and one of the UK's most in-demand film soundtrack musicians. On the road, in the recording studio, and in the television studio, Arch has worked with dozens of music superstars, including Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Joni Mitchell, Clay Aiken, Sheryl Crow, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Diana Ross and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell. Arch's recent film soundtrack credits include "Star Wars - The Revenge Of The Sith," "Notting Hill," "The Diary of Bridget Jones," "De-Lovely (The Cole Porter Story)," "Around the World In 80 Days," and all three Harry Potter feature films.

In addition, Arch, who has an extensive classical music background, has worked with avante´ garde minimalist Phillip Glass and pop/classical violinist, Vanessa Mae. "I am particularly impressed with David's classical ability, which has been enormously helpful in shaping new interpretations of 'Pictures At An Exhibition,' 'Fanfare For The Common Man,' and other classical standards that I performed while in ELP, " said Lake.

Florian Opahle (Guitar)

At only 23, Guitarist Florian Opahle from Rosenheim, Bavaria in Germany, is the youngest member of The Greg Lake Band, but by no means any less talented. After a rigid music education background (including master class instruction from guitarists such as Al DiMeola), Opahle has worked in a number of live acts and studios in his native Germany, playing everything from rock and blues, to classical and jazz.

He has toured throughout Europe, and in 2003, he began working with Jethro Tull front man, Ian Anderson, in his solo band project. As lead guitarist on the "Ian Anderson Plays Orchestral Jethro Tull" tour, he performed in Italy, Greece, Scotland, France and Germany with Anderson's band and a full orchestra. The tour has since been captured as a home DVD release.

In the fall of 2004, Florian returned to his work as a recording session player, contributing to the latest album by Italian artist Alessia D`Andrea, recorded in Calabria, Italy. Shortly thereafter, he was invited to join The Greg Lake Band - 2005.

Trevor Barry (Bass)

Bassist Trevor Barry comes to the band by way of a long and distinguished career as a session player, touring musician, composer, and record producer. In the recording studio, the scope of his "A-list" clients range from pop superstars Celine Dion and Phil Collins, to Brit rock pioneers The Hollies and celebrated songsmith, Carole King. His live experience ranges from his work with legends Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach, to chart-toppers Robbie Williams and Annie Lennox.

Barry has also written music for several films and TV shows, including "Everybody Loves Raymond," "60 Minutes" and "JAG." He has also performed in the house band for such musicals as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Brett Morgan (Drums)

If bassist Trevor Barry is the band's anchor (holding down the sound with his solid low end), then drummer Brett Morgan is clearly its engine room. The son of legendary UK session drummer (and Morgan Studios owner) Barry Morgan, Brett learned his craft not only from his father, but from growing up around the biggest stars in the UK music industry.

By the time he was old enough to see over his drum kit, he was already soaking up a wealth of musical experiences, and eventually, Brett would become a renowned session drummer himself. He has worked with ex-Beatle George Harrison, Sting, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Rod Stewart & Ronnie Wood, the late Freddie Mercury, and Joni Mitchell.

Lake said of the band, at the outset of his German/UK 2005 tour: "The musicians I have worked with in the past from King Crimson to ELP to The Who, and in 2001, with Ringo Starr & His New All Starr Band, have always been among the very best in the business. Having my own band consisting of musicians of the same musical calibre has inspired me to put together what I truly believe will be the most comprehensive and best live show of my entire career. I am both very lucky and very excited to be working with such talented musicians."
